NEW CABO FISHING TOURNAMENT
BILLFISH CONSERVATION IS THE FOCAL POINT OF THE ALL-RELEASE TOURNEY

In the spirit of Competition, Sportsmanship and Conservation, the world's top anglers have united to present one of the richest and most prestigious billfish tournaments ever held. The World Championship Billfish Release Tournament (WCBRT) is set for May 14th through May 18th at the beautiful Cabo Villas Resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

With the mandatory use of circle hooks in an all release format, WCBRT offers a new class of billfish tournament. The inaugural event is expecting up to 100 teams and has already attracted anglers from worldwide ports of distinction.

The mission of the WCBRT is to promote competition, sportsmanship and the advancement of billfish conservation in a manner that will insure healthy billfish populations and exciting fishing experiences today and for future generations.

The Conservation Objectives are to:

Raise awareness of the need for billfish conservation.

Support responsible billfish conservation management and sciences.

Release all hooked fish with as little injury as feasible.

Advance the use of conservation-friendly equipment and fishing methods.

Promote good sportsmanship by setting positive examples for young anglers.

Provide youth angling and educational opportunities related to billfishing.

To conduct business with responsible sport fishing entities, event services and related travel industry establishments.

Demonstrate that billfish conservation pays.

CIRCLE HOOKS ONLY IN THE WCBRT TOURNAMENT

The team entry fee of $4,000 (for up to 6 anglers per team) covers three days of competitive fishing, attendance to a gala welcome reception, an awards dinner banquet; as well as several optional sponsored events including a benefit casino night and a golf outing.

This is an event offered by fishermen for fishermen with a portion of the proceeds to benefit Fundacion para la Conservacion de los Picudos (FCP) and local Los Ninos del Capitin charities. ‘The Committee’ believes that Catch and Release fishing tournaments requiring the use of circle hooks are the Future of Fishing.
